Dr. Julia Song

Dr. Julia Song MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in glaucoma. In addition to general ophthalmology (cataract surgery, diabetic exams and treatment), she specializes in glaucoma management and surgeries in both adults and children.



Dr. Song received her undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a major in Biology and minors in Chemistry and Music. She received her medical degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Song completed her postgraduate training in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, TX. She then completed a two year glaucoma fellowship at Duke University in Durham, NC. during which she conducted an extensive amount of research on new treatments for glaucoma. She is the recipient of the Pfizer Ophthalmics Third Annual Glaucoma Fellowship as well as the Fight for Sight ARVO/Alcon Laboratories Grant. She was in private practice in San Diego, CA. She then became Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University where she was also Director of the Glaucoma Service. She is Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the USC/Keck School of Medicine.

She is a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Glaucoma Society. She is also an active member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Song has lectured at universities and teaches glaucoma courses at major ophthalmology care and has traveled overseas to Thailand and Mongolia with various organizations.

In her spare time, she was a clarinetist in the Los Angeles Doctors' Symphony Orchestra and the Santa Monica Civic Light Opera Orchestra. She has volunteered with Reading to Kids. She has participated in Love L.A. at SkidRow in downtown Los Angeles and also are volunteers with EyeCareAmerica and the Illumination Foundation to provide free medical and surgical ophthalmologic services. She has volunteered with the Flying Samaritans in Tecate, Mexico. She has also volunteered her services and supplies in Thailand and Mongolia. She also enjoys singing, playing the piano and swimming.

Dr. Song is fluent in Spanish.
